Competency aside, CIOs are facing greater challenges than before in ensuring not just the lights are kept on but also how his or her organisation remains agile and resilient enough to overcome turbulent economic climates. While organisations look for better solutions to deliver high value at lower costs, collaboration and convergence of technologies are two key areas where CIOs are seeking better answers. The 2012 CIO Conference revisits these issues in the transformation journey, and seeks answers to effectively avoiding the pitfalls along the process of renewal and revitalisation.

The Great Debate
This has proven to be a "signature" yet informative and entertaining feature of CIO Asia’s annual event. The debating teams will argue either side of this point of view - moderated by a host on stage - and the audience will be encouraged to express their views for the benefit of all.
Debate proposition: "CIOs, are you ready to be CEO?"
Are CIOs ready to seize the driver's seat today? Can they be competent business leaders befitting the title of a CEO? Is the technical background of a CIO a hindrance or a help towards that apex of the corporate ladder? We hear from both sides of the Great Debate, and find out whether CIOs do indeed hit a glass ceiling at some point of their career, or that they can break through traditions and be the cosummate leader to emerge triumphant during bad times and good.
