Tech Data has appointed former Insight commercial sales director, Pia Broadley, as its new director of sales and operations across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).
In the role, Broadley will have the responsibility of refining the distributor's local go-to-market strategy and operational models, leveraging more than 15 years of channel experience, across distributor and reseller organisations.
Previously, Broadley held sales and operations leadership roles with Express Data - and then Dicker Data - operating as partner services manager and, most recently, commercial sales director for Insight.
"Pia is an outstanding addition to our leadership team," Tech Data Asia Pacific vice president of marketing, education and supplier management, Michael Costigan, said. "She has an innovative style and solid experience driving motivated teams and enhanced business outcomes.
"We look forward to implementing enhancements across our business to ensure we drive world-class execution and continue to create new opportunities that drive growth with speed, agility, insight and impact."
The new appointment follows news that Tech Data cloud services and strategic growth director for Australia and New Zealand, Winston Wong, has left the distributor to take up a new role with VMware.
Wong was in charge of recruiting new suppliers, partners, crafting new business models and routes to market via the channel.
US-headquartered Tech Data completed its acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business in late February, in a US$2.6 billion deal, with the business recently changing its branding to reflect the global change.
Since the deal's completion, the company's local operation has seen a series of changes in staffing and leadership roles.
In July, Tech Data Technology Solutions vice president and general manager, Darren Adams, left the company after 15 years.
Adams' decision to leave the company came as the distributor considered the potential "reallocation" of existing resources to regions outside of Australia.
"Whilst we continue to invest in targeted areas of growth, some of this investment may be supported by the reallocation of existing resources to other geographies in the region," a spokesperson for the company told ARN in June.
Costigan has acted as the interim general manager while the company searches for a permanent replacement for Adams.
Furthermore, it is understood that Tech Data is still on the hunt for a new A/NZ general manager in the wake of Adams' departure, and has shortlisted potential candidates.
